I will be previewing all of the NE-10 football teams over the next 10 days. I will roll out each team in my preseason poll from # 10 to # 1. The NE-10 released the coaches' preseason poll on August 21st.

The season starts on September 3rd when defending champ LIU-Post travels to East Stroudsburg to open the 2015 season.

Here is my pick for #4 in the league in 2015:


American International College Yellow Jackets (8-3, 8-1 NE-10)

American International was the team to beat last year before LIU-Post got to them in the NE-10 Championship game. For 2015, the Yellow Jackets have a lot of holes to fill for the season but expect them to compete week in and week out.

The offense should be in the hands of senior quarterback Shawn Brathwaite. He saw game action last year and managed the offense well at times. He will have junior Marcel DePina in the backfield with him as well as senior all-purpose player Maurice Easterling. Senior Evan Graham will be the focus of the passing game and look to make the big play when called upon.

The American International defense is always swarming to ball and making big plays. Senior defensive lineman Danny Omoregie will be back causing chaos in the trenches. Fellow senior defensive lineman Andrew Justice will also bring the pressure from his end position. Senior linebacker Demetrius Steed will help to patrol the middle of the field and be in on most plays. The secondary is always active and limiting the big play with seniors Darion Chappel, Mike Ford and Daquan Holmes.

Head coach Art Wilkins has built a perennial title contender in Springfield. He just seems to reload each year with another solid player after the previous player graduates. This year, he has a lot of holes to fill in and will need players to step up and assume the leadership role to get back to their fourth consecutive NE-10 Championship game.
