It is that time of the year again, football season. The teams have been on campus for a couple of weeks now and are preparing for the 2017 season.
It all kicks off on August 31st when Bentley travels to West Chester and St. Anselm plays at Wagner.

Here is my pick for #8 in the league in 2017:

St. Anselm College Hawks (2-9, 2-7 NE-10)

Coach: Joe Adam, 2nd year (2-9)

Opening Game: August 31st @ Wagner

2017 Schedule

2016 Stats

2017 Roster

Game to Watch: September 8th @ Bentley

St. Anselm opens with a Division 1 FCS opener and then hits the road to open their league portion of the schedule. The Hawks need to grab early wins and start the momentum of positive early start. They finished last year strong but it was too late to compete in the league.

Player to Watch: Kyle Hill, WR

The junior wide receiver led the team with 81 receptions last year. He will have a new quarterback to get the ball to him but he is a player capable of catching the ball in tight coverage and down the field. If he attracts double teams, his receiving mates will have the ability to make big plays.

Unit to Watch: Linebacker

Eric Mercer and Eddie Matovu will be the anchors for the St. Anselm defense. Mercer led the team in tackles last year and Matovu will be right there with him pressuring the quarterback. The Hawks will need to limit the big play against some of the more explosive offenses in the league and it all starts with the linebackers.

Outlook:

Second year head coach Joe Adam saw his team finish strong last year and hopes that they can string it together for the entire season. He has had a full offseason and recruiting class that has his stamp on it. The Hawks have proven that they can compete and hope 2017 is a season to remember,
