The top six teams all won last Saturday so little movement in the rankings was expected. Two weeks left and plenty of games to decide the top seven slots for the playoffs.

1. IUP 9-0

They defeated Gannon 42-26 and clinched the PSAC West division. They will now play in the PSAC title game on November 11th. The Crimson Hawks have a trip to Mercyhurst this weekend to keep their perfect record intact. If they win out, they are the top seed. If they fall at any point, they are still a top three team in the region.

2. Assumption 8-0

They defeated Stonehill 68-0 and clinched the NE-10 regular season title. The Greyhounds are the best team in the league but still need to take care of business down the stretch. They travel to American International before closing out the season against Bentley at home. If they win out, they should hold the second seed but if they stumble, they might drop to fourth or fifth depending on other results.

3. Shepherd 8-0

They defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 45-14 and clinched another Mountain East title. The Rams are a dangerous team that has plenty of playoff experience and ready to make another deep playoff run. They host Charleston this weekend before closing out the regular season at UVA-Wise. If they win out, they will be in the top three and a loss would bump them into the top five of the region.

4. Findlay 8-1

They defeated Malone 49-0 last Thursday night and maintained their hold on the top spot of the GMAC. They have dominated in all of their victories this year and hope to continue the momentum. The Oilers host Alderson Broaddus this weekend before a defacto conference title game at Ohio Dominican. They will need to win out to secure a spot in the playoffs.

5. Slippery Rock 7-2

They defeated Clarion 24-9 to stop a two-game losing streak and keep their playoff chances alive. The Rock travel to Seton Hill and Kutztown over the final two weeks of the season. They need to win both games to keep them in the playoff hunt. Another loss pushes them out of the top seven in the region.

6. West Chester 7-2

They defeated East Stroudsburg 31-26 to maintain their shot at getting back to the PSAC championship game. If they defeat Millersville this weekend, they will get another shot at IUP as they hold the head to head advantage over Shippensburg. If West Chester plays for the PSAC title, they should stay in the top seven of the region.

7. Shippensburg 8-1

They defeated Kutztown in a PSAC East showdown last Saturday by the score of 27-13. It eliminated Kutztown from playoff consideration and kept alive their hopes. The Red Raiders have another tough game this weekend against Bloomsburg. They need to defeat the Huskies and have West Chester lose to Millersville to make the PSAC Championship game. If not, they need to win out to keep their playoff hopes alive and get a little help above them.

8. Notre Dame 7-2

They defeated Charleston in a close 17-12 game last Saturday and maintained their shot at making the playoffs. The Falcons host UVA-Wise this weekend before facing nationally ranked Indianapolis in the final weekend of the season. They will need to win both games if they are going make the playoffs.

9. LIU Post 6-2

They defeated Pace 41-14 for their third straight victory. The Pioneers have games with Merrimack and St. Anselm left on the schedule. Since both games are winnable, they just need to take care of business on the field. If other teams fall ahead of them, they might be able to get up to the seventh seed and make the playoffs for consecutive seasons.

10. California 7-2

They defeated Mercyhurst 31-21 to win their third straight game. The Vulcans have trips to Edinboro and East Stroudsburg left on the schedule for their slim playoff chances. If they win both games and teams ahead of them fall, they might be able to get up to the seventh slot.

The top six teams were victorious so there was little change in the rankings this week. The conference breakdown was very like last week with five from the PSAC, two from the NE-10 and MEC and one from the GMAC.

It appears that the top three teams are locked into the playoffs unless they drop both of their final games. One loss for any of them drops them to the third or fourth slot in the region. But the teams on the bubble need to continue to win. They cannot afford another loss and leave the decision in the hands of the selection committee.

Win games on the field and you will be playing on November 18th unless you are the top seed.
