Football season is here. Teams reported for training camp a couple of weeks ago and have been preparing for the 2018 season.

It kicks off August 30th as Southern Connecticut travels to Gannon, Pace is at Millersville and Bentley hosts West Chester.

Here is my pick for #9 in the league in 2018:

St. Anselm College Hawks (1-9, 1-8 NE-10)

Coach: Joe Adam, 3rd year (3-18)

Opening Game: September 8th vs Stonehill

2018 Schedule

2017 Stats

2018 Roster

Game to Watch: September 22nd vs American International

St. Anselm opens with two of their first three games on their home turf. They need to get off to a fast start to gain confidence and show that they are capable of playing with anyone in this league. The Hawks have shown flashes but need to be more consistent.

Player to Watch: Eric Fairweather, QB

The senior quarterback is a dual threat and needs to move the offense without turning the ball over. He has struggled to be accurate with his throws and needs to get the ball into the hands of his play makers on the outside. He can also tuck the ball under his arm as he led the offense in rushing yards a season ago.

Unit to Watch: Defensive Line

The unit will be the youngest on the defense. They lost most of their starters from a year ago and they will need to mature quickly. They need to control the edges and not make the linebackers and secondary run all over the field to make tackles.

Third year head coach Joe Adam saw his team struggle most of 2017 and needs to have them gain their confidence early. They have some experience on both sides of the ball and need them to play well week in and week out.
