Football season is here. Teams reported for training camp a couple of weeks ago and have been preparing for the 2018 season.

It kicks off August 30th as Southern Connecticut travels to Gannon, Pace is at Millersville and Bentley hosts West Chester.

Here is my pick for #8 in the league in 2018:

Stonehill College Skyhawks (6-4, 5-4 NE-10)

Coach: Eli Gardner, 3rd year (11-10)

Opening Game: August 31st vs Fairmont State

2018 Roster

Game to Watch: September 22nd @ Southern Connecticut

The match-ups between these two teams over the years have been phenomenal. The game always seems to come down to the final play and both teams are always evenly matched. It will see where the Skyhawks are after a couple of games and how they will finish the season.

Player to Watch: Andrew Jamiel, WR

The junior wide receiver is a catch machine. If the ball is thrown in his direction, he always seems to haul it in. He had 81 catches last year and 13 scores. He also missed a game due to injury and has been one of the top receivers in the league over the course of his first two seasons on campus.

Unit to Watch: Quarterback

It has been a position of strength for the last three years with Matt Foltz at the helm. After rewriting the record books, he graduated and passed the torch to a new signal caller. James Lam is the front runner as he has been the backup for the past couple of years. He will need to play with confidence and rely on his play makers on the offensive side of the ball.

Third year head coach Eli Gardner has some proven players and some unknowns. He will rely on his defense to play strong early in the season as the offense gains continuity in game situations. If the offense is able to excel early, they have a shot at making some noise in the league.
