Football season is here. Teams reported for training camp a couple of weeks ago and have been preparing for the 2018 season.

It kicks off August 30th as Southern Connecticut travels to Gannon, Pace is at Millersville and Bentley hosts West Chester.

Here is my pick for #6 in the league in 2018:

Southern Connecticut State University Owls (5-5, 4-5 NE-10)

Coach: Tom Godek, 5th season (17-26)

Opening Game: August 30th @ Gannon

2018 Schedule

2017 Stats

2018 Roster

Game to Watch: September 15th @ New Haven

The Battle for the Elm City Trophy is always a good one. This game might be the measuring stick for the Owls to see how they will compete this season. If they are able to go across town and take back the trophy, it could be a special season for Southern Connecticut.

Player to Watch: Jhaaron Wallace, LB

The senior linebacker has been a big part of the defense for the past three years. He has been one of the top tacklers and always has a nose for the ball carrier. He will need to help the younger defensive members understand the game plans and lead by example for the Owls.

Unit to Watch: Quarterback

The Owls have six quarterbacks on the roster with a grand total of zero career passes at the collegiate level. Whoever wins the battle will have some play makers around them but will need to mature quickly. They will need to play mistake free and continue to improve each week.

Fifth year head coach Tom Godek has preached patience since he took over the reins of the program. His team played well in the second half of the season and will need to continue that streak early in the season. They have a tough first three games of the season and need to mature quickly.
