Football season is here. Teams reported for training camp a couple of weeks ago and have been preparing for the 2018 season.

It kicks off August 30th as Southern Connecticut travels to Gannon, Pace is at Millersville and Bentley hosts West Chester.

Here is my pick for #3 in the league in 2018:

Assumption College Greyhounds (11-2, 8-1 NE-10)

Coach: Andy McKenzie, 1st season (0-0)

Opening Game: September 1st vs. Kutztown

2018 Schedule

2017 Stats

2018 Roster

Game to Watch: October 27th vs LIU Post

This game is always circled for both teams. They have been the top teams in the league for the past three years and it always feels like a championship game. The Greyhounds are not ready to be pushed off the top perch of the NE-10 and ready to defend their title.

Player to Watch: Ray Sarkodieh, DL

The senior defensive lineman is a force to be reckoned with. He continues to dominate the line of scrimmage and then gets to the quarterback with ease. His presence is huge for Assumption and just makes the defense better when he is on the field. He will draw double teams and still make tackles with ease.

Unit to Watch: Offensive Line

This group has been one of the more underrated groups for the Greyhounds. They did their job last year and the offensive players got most of the attention. But it is the guys in the trenches that make the offense operate with ease. But with some players graduated from last year, this group will need to continue their stellar play.

First year head coach Andy McKenzie walks into one of the best programs in Division II. He knows that the expectations are high, but he has the talent to meet those lofty goals. It is now the NCAA or bust in Worcester as the school and fans expect nothing less.
