Football season is here. Teams reported for training camp a couple of weeks ago and have been preparing for the 2018 season.
It kicks off August 30th as Southern Connecticut travels to Gannon, Pace is at Millersville and Bentley hosts West Chester.
Here is my pick for #2 in the league in 2018:
Bentley University Falcons (6-4, 6-3 NE-10)
Coach: Bill Kavanaugh, 5th year (21-22)
Opening Game: August 30th vs West Chester

Game to Watch: September 22nd @ LIU Post
It was the game that put Bentley on the map last season. They upset the nationally ranked Pioneers and showed the league that they were ready for prime time. They scored at will and were a turnover tsunami on defense. It will be their first major test and if they pass it, look out.
Player to Watch: Austin Ryan, WR
The sophomore wide receiver had a tremendous freshman year as he just seemed to be behind the defense on a consistent basis. He seemed to make big play after big play and nobody could contain him. He caught touchdowns at an alarming rate including four on the road over Assumption in a game for the ages. He might have changed his number, but defensive coordinators will not forget him this season.
Unit to Watch: Secondary
It was where all of the big plays occurred on defense for the Falcons. The secondary is the most experienced unit on the team and in a pass happy league, it will be a key to success for Bentley. They need to shut down opposing receivers so that their own big play receiver can have more opportunities.
Fifth year head coach Bill Kavanaugh saw his team play well at times but then stumble at others. The coaching staff has done a solid job recruiting and getting young players ready to play at the collegiate level. The team is young and if they continue to improve, they will be a serious contender to win the league.
