In this battle to get to .500, Concord struck fast taking an initial 7-0 lead just 45-seconds into the game. The Mountain Lions required a 90-yard touchdown drive with under five minutes remaining in regulation to take the final lead of the game. Limited to 78 yards rushing, the Mountain Lions did most of their damage through the air. Quarterback Brian Novak (21-32-227-3-2) connected with Brandon Plyler (3-53-2) for two touchdown passes, the second taking advantage of a Bobcat fumble.
WV Wesleyan did most of their damage on the ground as lead back Michael Anderson (34-237-0) had a huge day averaging 7.0 yards per carry on 34 carries. He is consistently one of the best running backs in the conference. These numbers are what helped the Bobcats maintain possession of the ball for nine minutes more than Concord had it. Unfortunately for WV Wesleyan, three turnovers and 151 penalty yards will make a difference in a tight game like they had this week.
