We're halfway through the 2016 season and we have a little bit of everything going on. Two teams (Fairmont State and Shepherd) remain undefeated and both look capable of winning out. But each team has five opponents remaining who would love nothing more than to destroy their perfect record. We have a couple of teams on a three-game win streak including the conference's Cinderella Story, UVA-Wise (West Liberty is the other). It will be interesting to see just how predictable the season plays out. As the weeks progress talk of playoff implications will grow louder and louder as we begin to tie in the results from outside of the MEC to look at the big picture.

Apparently the Eagles like to run the ball. Similar to the Charleston Golden Eagles, the Cincinnati Christian Eagles are a run-heavy program. They had 59 rushing plays for 191 yards compared to 12 pass attempts for 23 yards. This was evident in their first downs with 12 rushing first downs compared to one passing first down. Eighty percent of the carries were split between three different runners: Garner Harris (13-60-1), TJ Jemison (19-57-0) and Jordon Frost (16-53-0).

Urbana was more balanced with quarterback Tajuan Green (7-10-234-3-1, 4-80-1) achieving 314 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns. Green averaged over thirty yards per completion. Wide receiver Trevon Saunders (8-232-4) had a monster day including two 80-yard touchdown receptions. The Blue Knights had 257 rushing yards to complement their 322 passing yards; nearly a third of those rushing yards coming from the legs of quarterback Green.

Urbana faces a few tough run-heavy opponents and this game may serve them well going forward.
