Those who made the trip to Long Island were treated to sunny skies (for the most part), crisp fall temperatures, and wind velocities that were tolerable. It was a gorgeous autumn afternoon for college football. LIU-Post's new stadium is aesthetically pleasing and the recreation center next door was impressive. The atmosphere of the game-day environment with excited tailgaters and nice facilities helped alleviate any agitation over the $15 Welcome to Staten Island/NYC fee and its corresponding traffic.
Shepherd keeps the MEC going after eliminating both of the Northeast-10's playoff representatives. I included a Game Recap, but to spare those who wanted the nuts and bolts of what happened, the long-winded stuff is further below.
Shepherd advances to the quarterfinals. They will travel to face California University of Pennsylvania at 1:00 pm this coming Saturday. The winner will be the Super Region 1 champion and advance to the Division II semi-finals.
So, what happened ....

The Rams used up less than a minute taking advantage of the opportunity. Brandon Hlavach started the drive with a 19-yard run, Billy Brown drew two pass interference penalties to move the ball 30 yards, and Ziemba connected with CJ Davis who slipped pass the secondary and caught a perfectly thrown pass that he ran in for a 33-yard touchdown catch.
Post followed up 19-yards of offense on its next drive with three incomplete passes in a row. Eight plays and 73 yards later (most from a 54-yard catch by Billy Brown), Ziemba threw another touchdown pass to Brown whose uniform was draped with a Pioneer defender. Two missed extra point attempts limited the Rams lead going into halftime 26-7.
Post scored first in the second half, about mid-way through the 3rdrd
