UNI is the team to watch now. Sunday’s game is suddenly huge.

Drake has an easier last 2 games than UNI, but I’d just assume stay ahead in the standings so Drake is not counting on someone else to win it outright. I don’t know what the tie-breaker would be for the 1 seed in St. Louis and I’m too lazy right now to look for it.

I decided to look into it. If I understood what I read… if UNI wins Sunday and both teams win out the rest of the way, UNI would win the tie-breaker for the 1 seed.

1st tie breaker is head to head, which would be a split.
2nd tie breaker is record against the next highest team or teams in the standings. Right now that is Bradley. Drake is 1-1. If UNI wins out, they’ll be 2-0.

Drake just needs to win Sunday.

According to the Drake board, my information is incorrect. They’re saying the 1st tie-breaker after head to head is the NET rankings. That is definitely better for Drake.

DU clinches a share of the MVC regular season title with a 64-58 OT win @ UNI. DU is now 25-3(15-3) while UNI falls to 19-10(13-5) & 13-3 at home. Huge crowd with good DU turnout and what a gutsy game by Drake. Bennett was a force to be reconned with again. 1st DU MVC regular season title since 2019. Congrats to Ben & his Bulldogs! Bennett had 26 pts/10 rebounds

It’s insane that the 27-3 regular season MVC Champs may need to win their Conference Tournament to make the field of 68. What a travesty if a 4 loss team is bumped by numerous teams with double digit losses. It puts unfair pressure on them unlike any other D1 team imho

I don't know that the pressure is any different than any other mid major team, but I think after a record setting season, the disappointment that comes along with getting left out would be greater for Drake. Nearly all of the mid majors go in knowing that the only guarantee they have is winning the tournament. That's pressure for everyone. It makes the mid major conference tournaments do or die. Kind of makes it more fun. The SEC slogan... "it just means more" definitely applies more to mid-majors during championship week.

I think if they make it to Sunday and 29 wins, they're in. Saturday, it's still possible, but gets iffy. Hopefully, they just keep finding away even when they don't play their best and they're cutting down the nets in St. Louis. But if not, just hope there isn't a lot of bid stealers... there's also one less AQ with there not being a PAC-12. If Bradley wins, obviously it takes the auto away from Drake, but isn't completely damaging, because our Bradley win would likely move to a Quad 1 win and the loss(es) to Bradley would move to Quad 2. Bradley is 79 NET now... getting to 75 would make those things happen. This team is stressful to watch, its like a trainwreck with a happy ending at times, but yeah, its been fun... should be a fun week.
