I have only seen seven games this year. Four were in Duluth early on: #3 Moorhead split with two strong Yooper teams (MTU and NMU), while #6 UMD swept both of them. Then, in Bemidji, BSU edged past Northern 72-70, put up a decent fight against Moorhead 74-81, and then was overwhelmed by Augie 66-98.
I really thought #3 Moorhead and #6 UMD were really good and would cruise through the NSIC with only two or three losses, maybe one to each other. Obviously, I should have been paying more attention to the southern NSIC teams. An early clue was when Winona and CSP toppled MTU, but it didn't resonate. I knew Mankato and Southwest would be good,
Where did Minot come from?
Early on in the NSIC, I would have never imagined UMD to be only 5-4, Moorhead only 5-5, and Northern 0-10 (1-15 overall). Never a dull moment.

and to blow your mind more, the only free throw in the last 10 seconds when they fouled Stevens to stop the clock !
Van De Griend is a stud - just wow
