As a long time supporter of Washburn Men's basketball and having a son that played at Washburn, I was ecstatic with the game last night against Concordia SP. The team basketball and relentless play by the Ichabods was fun to watch. Coach Ballard has put a heck of a team together and I am sure will have them ready against Moorhead. Not only has coach Ballard put a great team together, he is really building a heck of a program. He starts 3 seniors but he starts two sophomores and plays a talented Freshman around 20 minutes a game. They will miss Jacob Hanna, Michael Keegan and Andrew Orr as these three are a heck of nucleus but he returns 5 very capable players for next year and has a couple of young guys on the bench that will contribute next year along with a heck of class coming in. Coach Ballard's past teams played NWMS tough but just couldn't get over the hump over one of the best runs by the Bearcats in D2 history. I have been watching him build it over the past 8 years and this year's team is the culmination of a lot of hard work and some excellent recruiting by Coach Ballard and his staff. Looking forward to Tuesday night game against Minnesota State-Moorhead.
