It's not often that a team sitting at 14-14 overall can be considered the most dangerous team in a conference. GVSU's men's team likely meets that definition. GVSU, on February 10th was sitting at 9-13 overall and 6-6 in GLIAC play. With games with Ferris State, Lake State, at NMU and at MTU left on the schedule (GVSU had been 1-3 vs those teams the first half of the season), a decent finish to the season seemed unlikely. GVSU finished winning 5 of 6, beating all of the above teams (including LSSU who only beat GVSU by 36 in the first meeting). GVSU jumped to the #4 seed and will host MTU (who they beat at MTU on Saturday). GVSU might not earn a conference tourney title this year and a bid to the NCAA's, but I don't think anyone really wants to see the Laker's on the opposing bench right now.
