UIU had exhibition game with D1 UNI last night. First time seeing team with new coach, new system, and a bunch of new players. They gave UNI everything they could handle in the first half. Was 35-34 UNI at half. UNI came out and imposed their will on the Peacocks in 2nd half going on a 16-0 run to start. Overall was pretty happy with what I saw. UIU was very tough defensively in the first half causing a lot of problems fro UNI in running their offense. Both halves on O we struggled a bit as UNIs length and athleticism caused us fits. Overall we shot pretty well for the game. Optimistic that we'll compete well, the only thing that was a bit worrying was our response in the 2nd half would have like to see a bit more fight out of the gate especially how well played in first half. Great to see them back on the court!

Upper Iowa beats Parkside 78-69. Pretty tight first half, UIU opened up a 10-12 point lead in second half. Parkside battled back to within 2, but UIU hit their FTs down the stretch to pull out the win on the road. Defensively they played tough whole game. Offense still a bit spotty and shooting % wasn't best, but they really played hard and their D was the difference.

UIU wins 88-76 over Roosevelt. A little sloppy game, but UIU played great D again tonight in 2nd half to pull away and build a 12 point lead. Great start for an almost brand new team with a new coach. Shooting like last night was streaky, but their D held them in and they slowly chipped away to build a big lead. Can't ask for a better start with a lot of new faces!

UIU drops a 5 point game to Central Missouri tonight. UIU played some gritty D again tonight, but offense end was the issue especially FT's. 11-22 - ouch, ouch. If they hit FTs this game goes the other way. Better lock them in the gym and don't let them come out until everyone goes 20-20 from the line. FG % again wasn't the best, but honestly happy 3 games in with a brand new team and coach. They are in every game, play really good D for most part (let the guard drive in for uncontested layups too many times tonight), but overall they are scrappy and get after it.
