  • Two Weeks to Go:

Here's where we stand as far as the conference tourneys look right now

CCAA (first round at higher seeds, semis and final at Cal Poly-Pomona)

    #8 CSU-Dominguez Hills (11-15, 8-11) at #1 Cal Poly Pomona (18-5, 15-4)
    #7 CSU-San Bernardino (12-11, 10-9) at #2 CSU-San Marcos (18-6, 13-5)
    #6 Stanislaus State (15-9, 10-8) at #3 Chico State (16-6, 13-5)
    #5 San Francisco State (15-9, 11-7) at #4 UC San Diego (16-8, 13-5)

The three-way tie for second will probably get some resolution this week as both San Marcos and UCSD make the trip north to Chico. Pomona, meanwhile, will not have to leave home again until the regional.

    GNAC (Anchorage, Alaska)

    #3 Saint Martin's (18-6, 11-5) vs. #6 Alaska-Anchorage (12-11, 8-8)
    #4 Seattle Pacific (14-9, 9-7) vs. #5 Central Washington (14-9, 9-7)

    BYE: #1 Western Oregon (23-1, 15-1), #2 Western Washington (18-6, 13-3)

SPU beat Central by one point in Ellensburg back on Dec. 2 and host the Wildcats again on the 22nd. Up north, the battle of Alaska may decide the 6th seed when Anchorage visits Fairbanks (10-12, 8-8) on the 20th. Can't count out NNU (11-11, 7-9) just yet either.

    PacWest (Riverside, CA)

    #3 Point Loma (19-7, 13-4) vs. #6 Concordia (15-9, 9-7)
    #4 Azusa Pacific (16-8, 12-4) vs. #5 Chaminade (14-8, 9-6)

    BYE: #1 Dixie State (17-6, 14-2), #2 Cal Baptist (19-4, 12-3)

APU owns the tiebreaker with Point Loma if it comes to that, but still has to play Chaminade twice in the final two weeks. The 'Swords also have to pay a visit to CBU this Thursday. Hawai'i Pacific (13-10, 8-7) and Academy of Art (9-13, 8-8) still have an outside shot.

Obviously I'm very pleased with the 23-1 record, didn't expect that this year. Good story on the GNAC website how really it's a team effort, not a star system. Omlid leading scorer at around 13 ppg. I've enjoyed seeing the newcomers blending well with the veterans.
