  • Eligibility Ruling

Massive rule change. Federal judge rules that JuCo and NCAA eligibility are separate. Thus a player can go to a JuCo and still retain all 4 years of eligibility at the NCAA level.

I have to think this would apply to NAIA and NCAA as well.

it makes me wonder, how far away are we from eligibility not being a thing anymore? I do think there is a restraint of trade argument to made for limiting eligibility that hasn’t been fought yet. But I’m sure it will be tested soon enough.

My guess is Naia is included in the new rule. The lawsuit says NCAA not 4-year colleges. So technically you could play 4 years at an NAIA School and then Play 4 years at an NCAA school. College athletics is a complete mess right now. I feel bad for high school kids no one's going to offer on them anymore

18 year olds are just going JuCo. Deep down I actually think 4 year college coaches are happy about this. They all seem to want more developed players, thus the popularity of the transfer portal. Well now they are only going to be recruiting more developed players.

I suspect the NAIA will adjust its rules to accommodate all drop downs or JuCo to get the same 4 year experience. I think the writing is on the wall for that.

But yeah I agree, some kid is going to play 2 years of Juco, then 4 years of NAIA and then be developed enough to play at a 4 years NCAA school.

kids better be getting their masters and doctorates out of this.

It's insane, going to really diminish high school sports. Four years plus a redshirt is enough for college eligibility.
