Big win for CWU last night at home vs. MSU-Billings, though it appears MSU-B, NNU, St. Martin's, and UAA, have pretty much locked up the top 4 spots.

WOU was down to 7 players because of illness, missing leading scorer Jaydin Penigar, the 2nd leading scorer in the conference. WOU guard Braydon Olson scored 32 points, including 10 of 16 from 3 to lead the way. Again, very pleased with the Wolves this year, the improvement from the previous program, the coaching, attention to defense and rebounding. In the last couple years no way WOU goes up to WWU short-handed and wins this game. Heck, they couldn't win it with a full squad.

NNU won barely at home vs. SPU; St. Martin's won on the road at SFU.

Saturday's games are intriguing, two in particular, MSU-B at NNU, and the interesting UAA at UAF contest. Should be fun, it's been a good season and we're winding down.

CWU men were disruptive. This is coming from someone who likes basketball but doesn't understand it like a coach. All I could tell is there were some frustrated MSUB players, which brings me to my disruptive analogy.

CWU hosting SPU is interesting in that those two need great finishes to lock up a top 6 seed to get to the conf tournament.

Putting a women's spin on this as well, CWU women needed OT to beat a MSUB team that looked 20-5, not 14-12 on the season. I'm not sure if that's more CWU going through struggles or MSUB waking up. Wildcat women should destroy SPU tonight.

Also looking at the rest of the West Region. Cal State East Bay rolling through the CCAA and Point Loma again the team to beat in the PacWest.

It's Point Loma, Pomona, Chico, Cal State LA for the women to go along with CWU, WWU. I'm still hoping CWU finishes strong and Pomona trips up. CWU potentially hosting the women's west regional would be great.

UAA owes UAF a 25 point beating tonight after that blowout up in Fairbanks.

Nice job by the CWU men's team sweeping through the week. Upset victory over MSUB and then a very convincing dub over SPU. Good luck to them against WOU and SMU.

Anyone know when the regional rankings come out? It's gotta be this week? Two weeks of rankings and then the conference tourneys. Regardless, I expect to see the CWU women at #2 behind Pomona.

Yo Goods: Fellow CWU sports fan here. I appreciate your optimism but I’ve watched the women all season and they are not very impressive currently. They have one VG player and the rest are not as much help as they were early on. Fiona started strong, but now contributes very little in terms of rebounding and scoring. Lately, the entire team commits far more turnovers than the opposing teams, and the shooting percentage has dropped way off. Western Wa and St. Martins are rolling. And Nwst Naz plus Alaska Anchorage are nipping at their heels. If they fail to wright this ship quickly, they are doomed. Just sayin….

Good question, where are those regional rankings? I think it would be cool to start them earlier, create more interest in the post-season. As always, my hopes are the GNAC gets a minimum of two men's and two women's teams in the regional tournament.

I'll admit that the dominating first half of the season isn't quite as impressive in the second half. I was frustrated by the upset to Anchorage and will lose a lot of hope if we don't dominate the final three games of the season.

Well, CWOO WOMEN are woeful again. Shooting less than 20% from three, not to mention turnovers. Rebounding is excellent but no depth from the bench once again is their undoing. It’s not time to panic, but until players 5 thru 8 step up, this team is doomed. Other than Snachell, this years transfers are a bust. A loss to W Oregon. Really??….

Not gonna lie, this CWU women's loss hurts more than the Alaska Anchorage one last month. Very frustrating. We've got two more regular season games to go and then a gauntlet of a conference tournament.
