Wondering what's going on in Anchorage with the coaching search. The job has been open for awhile.

I have not heard any differently that it’s Cameron Turner’s job to lose but the hiring has to follow state guidelines since it’s a state run university. That means they had to post the position which they did. Hold interviews with pre-set number of candidates. Generally it’s 10% of all applicants. Those can take awhile. Then before hire they have to do an extensive background search…stare hiring is never fast. But I’m with you..it seems it has to get wrapped up soon. Fairbanks is already out making offers to players. UAA needs to get someone in place quickly as they will have a lot of slots to fill on the roster.Originally posted by tsull View PostWondering what's going on in Anchorage with the coaching search. Thanks, good points on being a state institution and going through the correct processes. Sometimes as a sports fan it's easy to forget that these are universities and they need to do things in a thoughtful, correct way, and not just be like division one and be sports first and academics second, third, or even lower than that.Originally posted by Anchorage View Post

Thanks for the scoop I knew you'd get it!Originally posted by Anchorage View Post
This guy sounds like a no-brainer, especially with his record in Arizona. Maybe he can convince a couple of his JC players to join him in Alaska. Just tell them if they can handle the heat, they can handle the cold. It's 2 years out of your life, live with it. I think it'll be the exciting place to play college basketball I know there's a lot of travel but it's a quality D2 program with a nice arena and in a big city.

Yeah agree. Proven winner but knows what he’s getting into recruiting in Alaska. Is well thought of up here and gets along with the powers that be. Clearly can recruit. Checks a lot of boxes for sure.Originally posted by tsull View Post

In a month full of departures of some of the league's best players, the conference needed some good news. This is good news.
