I had a question. Is there any discussion or chance that Francis Marion University will add football in the future?

I have a friend whose daughter plays softball there, and was wondering.

    Thank you.

I believe that anything is possible but I have not heard anything regarding FMU starting football - ever. I grew up in SC and schools like FMU, USC-Aiken, and Lander were always really opposed to adding the sport. Lander came close to starting club football about 10 years ago but ultimately nothing ever came of it.

Honestly, I think the state of South Carolina needs/would benefit from at least one public D2 university with football, but more would be better. There are a lot of kids out there that would like to go college and play football but can't because small private colleges/universities are the D2 schools in state and even with lottery scholarship money some kids can't afford to try playing small college football.

In a perfect world Francis Marion, USC-Beaufort, and USC-Aiken or Lander would all add football and play football in Conference Carolinas. Sorry about the long-winded response.
