  • Conference Carolinas Football

Barton College would like to see CC football sooner rather than later. Just need one more team after UNC-Pembroke joins and would prefer to have at least eight. Where do the new teams come from; current members add teams, "raid" CIAA or SAC, NAIA or D3 move ups?

At the risk of sounding like a broken record and I know nothing of their financials or facilities but Christopher Newport would be an interesting addition. All CNU sports would be CC-sponsored with CC adding football; CNU does not have the CC sports of M-W swim & dive, M volleyball, and M wrestling. They would partner well with Chowan for travel.

Christopher Newport (another CN School), a growing Public Institution with around 5,000 students would be a nice addition to CC, and fit in well. Excellent facilities, and a pretty strong fan base.

Ok, so here's the plan. Conference Carolinas begins football sponsorship with the 2022 season.

The teams are the five full members:
      *Barton
      *Chowan
      *Erskine
      *UNC-Pembroke
      *North Greenville
      And joined by affiliate member:
      *Bluefield State

I would propose CC football to begin in 2021 but Barton has the SAC scheduling agreement for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Adding Bluefield State gives the conference time to find other teams either by new teams by current members or by expansion; when BSC gets the MEC invite in about 5 years, CC will have 6 or more full member football teams.
