TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Stillman College announced on August 14 the return of its football program, restoring a proud tradition that has long united students, alumni, and the Tuscaloosa community while advancing the College's vision for the future.

The return of Tiger football represents more than the revival of an athletic program. It reflects Stillman's commitment to enhancing the student experience, supporting enrollment growth, strengthening alumni engagement, and creating new opportunities for community partnership as the College honors its legacy while building for the future.

"Football has a special place in the history and spirit of Stillman College," said Dr. Yolanda W. Page, President of Stillman College. "As we celebrate 150 years of educating students and transforming lives, we are also looking boldly toward the next 150 years. The return of football is an opportunity to strengthen the student experience, reconnect generations of Stillman alumni, and create new energy and opportunities for our campus and the Tuscaloosa community."

"The Board of Trustees is proud to support this important moment in Stillman College's history," said Joe Hampton, Chair of the Stillman College Board of Trustees. "The return of football represents an investment in the vitality of our institution and an opportunity to strengthen enrollment, student life, alumni engagement, and our connection to the broader community. As Stillman celebrates 150 years, we believe this is the right time to restore a tradition that means so much to generations of Stillman alumni while building a program positioned for long-term success."

    A Proud Tradition Returns

Football has deep roots at Stillman College, creating generations of student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and fans who proudly represented the blue and gold. The program produced memorable moments on the field while helping shape young men through scholarship, discipline, leadership, and service.

The reinstated program will build upon that legacy while establishing a model focused on academic achievement, student-athlete development, competitive excellence, and fiscal responsibility.

"This is about much more than what happens on Saturday afternoons," said Terrance Whittle, Director of Athletics at Stillman College. "We have an opportunity to build a football program that reflects the values of Stillman College and develops students academically, athletically, and personally. We are excited about what this means for our students, alumni, and supporters."

Building More Than a Football Program

The return of football is expected to strengthen every aspect of campus life—from expanding opportunities for student-athletes to enhancing the marching band, cheerleading, student organizations, and game-day traditions. It also creates new opportunities for alumni engagement, corporate partnerships, philanthropy, sponsorships, and community investment.

Founded in 1876, Stillman College is celebrating its Sesquicentennial under the theme "Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future." The return of Tiger football embodies that theme by honoring the College's proud legacy while creating new opportunities for future generations of Tigers.
    A Call to Tiger Nation

As preparations move forward, Stillman College will engage alumni, donors, businesses, and community partners in supporting the return of football and the enhanced student experience it represents.

Additional announcements regarding coaching leadership, recruitment, schedules, facilities, partnerships, and opportunities to support Tiger football will be shared at a later date.

Tiger Nation, football is coming home.
