Hillsdale Camp Updates

The 125th edition of the Hillsdale College Chargers Football team is back on campus and in full preparatory mode as the team enters its first season as a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.


Players checked in on Sunday and camp continues through Saturday August 26th when the team transitions back to balance football and classes. Most other students will return that same weekend and classes begin on August 30.


Gone are the days of seemingly endless stretches of full-contact two-a-day practice sessions. Most days in camp will feature a heavy schedule of meetings with a walk-through practice in the morning and then an afternoon session in either shoulder pads and helmets (pro pads) or full-pads. The Chargers' first full-contact practice on Friday the 11th at 3:15. Hillsdale alternates its days by practicing one afternoon in pro pads and then the next day in full pads.


The team will scrimmage with officials at 3:15 on Saturday the 19th and then again on Saturday the 26th at 11:00 AM after following its full pre-game routine.


Hillsdale College opens the season on Saturday September 2 at noon in Erie, PA against Mercyhurst in a non-league contest.

I'm really looking forward to the game on October 7th. A lot of resect for the Charger program and always a great game. I believe this will be one of the big matchups in the GMAC and nice to see a couple of former GLIAC teams battle for bragging rights in the new league.
