Tiffin in the D2 playoffs should be a no brainer.

ODU and Findlay would beat several listed in the East regional top 10

Anything is possible in football but we do know that #3 SHEP won at ODU 35-30 in week 1 and FINDLEY had to go to OT to beat MEC also ran UNC-P in week 2. TIFFIN should be in IF they win at FINDLAY in week 11, but a 3 loss team that struggled to beat KWU in OT will have a hard sell. The DRAGONS win and they're in.

Quite clear that the NCAA wants a GMAC team in and will cook the books to make it happen. They now have Tiffin in the Earned Access spot AND Findlay at #10 as the back-up should Findlay beat Tiffin. Not saying Tiffin shouldn't be the #9, but if you use the "formula" that people say is being used this year (W/L%+SOS), Charleston is CLEARLY ahead of Findlay. Also telling that SR1 is the ONLY region were a 3 loss team has jumped over a two loss team and into the Top 10.

Once again, the NCAA is showing that if the numbers run counter to wha they want, they will just ignore the numbers.

And we've both been watching this long enough to know that hardly qualifies as news. I don't think this process could ever be made totally objective and what would be the fun in that, even if it could.

SURE...It's great fun if your team gets into the playoffs...not so much fun when your team doesn't (even though most/all of the posted criteria say you SHOULD have been in the playoffs).

The process could be made 100% objective quite easily. NCAA simply has to come up with a formula that EVERY team is ranked against EQUALLY and without manipulation. Somthing like:

            DII W/L%+DII SOS=Ranking Score

If you feel the need to consider Head-to-Head results, you make a specific rule like:

Head-to-Head results will apply only between teams that competed in a Head-to-Head contest and only if the two schools in question are ranked concurrently (ex. 2 and 3). The winner of that game will receive a .050 bump to their ranking score and if this .050 is sufficient to move the lower seeded team above the other team, the adjustment will be made.

If you want to give a team a benefit for playing 11 DII games, you make a rule saying:

The NCAA expects teams to play 11 DII games. Teams playing fewer than 11 games will be docked .050 points off of their ranking score for every game below 11 that they play.

You publish these AND more importantly, you live by them regardless of how you feel.

But the NCAA won't do that because they want the ability to pick and choose not just who should be in the playoffs, but where they are seeded and who they play.

True...But just because they refuse to change doesn't mean you stop pointing out their hypocrisy.
