  • Slippery Rock spring game

The team named after the marching band won the spring game Friday night.

I don't put a lot of stock in spring games, but it looks like Rushawn Grange had a nice night at running back. I never heard of Grange, but I had never heard of Wes Hills last year at this time

Granted Wes Hills did not play in last year's spring, but he was mentioned and ballyhooed in the Feb. recruiting class.

The big transfer RB was suppose to be the kid from Seton Hill (wow that sounds like a oxymoron); but he is also listed as WR as well on roster. Fochtman started several games when Hills was hurt and did fine; I think he deserves more touches. There are lot more holes than expected with Raabe, Merhaut, Cerillo all graduating with eligibility left, not too mention the 8th best in the nation KR no longer on the roster.

I think the story on Raabe is if he was going to play he needed shoulder surgery. He decided against going under the knife again.

Grange was a heck of a back in HS here in Philadelphia rushed for 1084 yards and 15 TDs. Same HS that produced Ship great and NFL Pro Bowler Brent Grimes Northeast High.

The athletic department's recap calls Grange a 'newcomer,' but he's listed as a junior. Was he at SRU and just not playing football or did he transfer in recently?

Transfered in from Valley Forge Military College. I believe he redshirted there in 15, played in 16 and 17 and sat out 2018

Any word on how the transfer wideout from PSU has looked?

Was he a scholarship PSU transfer or walk-on ?

Per the NSD article : https://rockathletics.com/news/2019/...?path=football

He was a redshirt FR at PSU where I believe he was on scholarship.. four years of eligibility remaining at SRU.

His father played in the NFL and was drafted 4th overall... so the pedigree is there. I'm interested to know what happened when he was at Penn State to spur the transfer to DII ranks.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am an SRU alum.

Was a walk-on at PSU. They liked him a lot but he wasnt sure he was going to break the depth chart. He hurt his foot in the spring at SRU, not sure how serious it is but once healthy, showed enough where he can stand out.
