Saw today that Doug Belk, Lowndes Co native, former Carson-Newman QB, Valdosta State DB coach (back in 2012), former Crimson Tide Grad Assistant for DB's and former cornerbacks coach for West Virginia under Dana Holgorsen was named the co-DC and cornerbacks coach for Houston under Holgorsen.

Great trajectory for a very sharp young man.

Saw today that Joe Cauthen, one of the great defensive coaches to come through VSU and most recently the DC at Arkansas State is headed to Houston with Dana Halgorsen. Reports I read said that Cauthen was coming as DC. Since Doug Belk is listed as co-DC I'd assume that he and Cauthen are sharing the coordinators role.

For Belk, a young rising defensive coach, being with Cauthen will be a great opportunity to learn from and work with a great defensive mind.

Cauthen was DC at VSU from '07-'10. Belk coached DB's at VSU from '12-'13. Both have national championship rings from their time with the Blazers.

It's time to celebrate!!!
The National Championship celebration is Thursday night(24th) at the PE Complex(changed from front lawn). Doors will open at 5:30.
The event will start at 6:00 with a BlazerWalk across the bridge that connects the back of Oak St. Parking lot to the Complex. Inside, the players will have a run onto the court as in gameday!!
The celebration will also include speeches by the coaches, live music, food, free posters for autographs, photo ops, and NC gear will be available from the Bookstore booth.
Come out and join in on the fun!!!

If true:

Been there 8 years. First 3 were very ugly (5-28). Next 2 went 10-12. Last 3 years went 23-10.

Steady improvement over the 8 years.

Seems like a pretty nice guy on his youtube coaches shows.

Lol. Reminds me of UNA's student newspaper. I chuckle when they run sports stories a week or more later.
