  • For GSC football programs that want to remain in D2, what about this?

Outside of football the GSC is a strong conference so I doubt it will go under, but what to do with football.

Lets say we are left with four football programs, I suggest we go to ESPN, ESPNU and any sports network with national coverage, and sell the idea of the best conference in D2 taking on the best national programs. We'll probably be offered chump change, but for us that would be big money, more than enough to cover the loss of a home game (reason follows).

We then approach all of the D2 iconic programs, programs with recent success, and good teams in the southeast in need of games. We offer them all, a three year deal where they get two home games and the GSC teams get one. An offer I believe most could not refuse. Alternatively we could do equal 2 or 4 year home & away deals, and offer money, or do some combination of both.

The cavate is the games times will have to be ultra flexible, giving the networks the ability to move games up to a week before or if possible, even later, to suit their schedule.

Aside from any other issues, I don’t see any major network going for it. The vast majority of the public would rather watch two no name D1 schools play more than two blue blood d2 programs like VSU AND GVSU.
Go Blazers, Braves , Falcons, Hawks and Jackets!
