  • Helene knocks off the Blazers and the Tigers!

The VSU-West Al matchup scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to the hurricane. Sadly, no makeup dates are available…

    More information at vstateblazers.com!

I hope everyone stays safe. Just so we have a discussion topic for this thread, why do you think the Blazers are ducking the Tigers?🤣

Y’all didn’t have to deal with the natural disaster of last season. True old school football: no power, no scoreboard, no clock, no internet, no headsets, no iPad reviews. Even the Tigers didn’t want to face up to that this time!

Of course, the words Cat 4 should give everyone a bit of a pause…

Forget about football for now. We all need to pray for the safety of all the people in the path of this storm, especially our friends in Valdosta.

This UWA tiger alum over here in Tallahassee is praying for all of my fellow VSU/GSC fans that are in the path. I'm just gonna say I think Helene saved UWA from a good ole fashion butt whuppin....I was looking at both schedules in comparison to the D2 first round, and I just don't see any available date. I'm surprised the game didn't get moved to Livingston and then the next two years at VSU. Hopefully they are looking into that as an option.

Western Alabama, particularly along the border with Mississippi, isn't supposed to be directly impacted by this hurricane, but the wraparound storms associated with the hurricane could cause heavy rainfall along with 30-40 mph winds... plus, there's no guarantee the storm doesn't suddenly start tracking west and causing an even more significant impact. You also have to factor in that the Blazers would have to find a way to get to Livingston, which sounds like it's going to be easier said than done, particularly if coastal areas are being evacuated.

Travel was an issue no matter where the game was played.

Just saw this on Twitter: Liberty at App State game canceled due to Helene and will not be rescheduled

How many other games have been cancelled or postponed from this?

Valdosta got hit hard. The hospital in Valdosta doesn't have power at the moment.

Over 100 structures have people trapped inside.

That is insane. Prayers for folks trapped and their rescuers.

A firefighter in Pierce County (east of Valdosta) was killed by a falling tree.
