Y'all, the Newberry College Community could use your prayers.
Newberry College President, Dr. Maurice 'Morrie' Scherrens, died early this morning at home after a long illness with cancer. Dr. Scherrens was a great advocate for Newberry College and D2 Athletics. Since 2012, the school has thrived in ways it never had before because of his leadership. Apart from being a college president, in his past, he was also an NCAA Football Referee who oversaw some great college games.
He will be greatly missed. I had the opportunity to work with him during my ten years back in Newberry, including a brief stint as the Newberry College interim campus pastor.
