  • Former Eagle Passes Away

Article from cneagles.com. This happened last week, but due to our family's relationship with Colt, I didn't post until today.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman offensive lineman Colt Sinor passed away mid-Friday morning, June 13 at the age of 23 after a battle with cancer.

Sinor overcame two previous cancer diagnoses to suit up for Carson-Newman on the gridiron while attaining a degree in exercise science.

"Colt was such a sweet young man who loved the Lord," VP for Athletics Matt Pope said. "It's a hard pill to swallow for us as a community right now. He never complained about his diagnosis, or anything. His mom and dad, Tim and Tammy, are wonderful people. He had such a great sense of humor and took everything in stride. While this hurts for us in losing him, we rest at ease knowing he is safe and secure in the arms of the Lord."

Sinor was first diagnosed with Stage 3C Testicular Cancer in the spring of 2021. He rang the bell and was cleared for a return to football in the fall of 2022, a season in which he started seven games. Cancer would return in the spring of 2023. Sinor would ring the bell again to suit up for C-N in 2023 and 2024 again. Through it all, Sinor retained a remarkable sense of humor, changing his Instagram handle to Colt "1Ball" Sinor.

He was a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection and preseason All-SAC selection. Sinor appeared in 34 career games across his C-N career while making 16 career starts.

The Swiss army knife of the Carson-Newman offensive line, he started games at left guard, center and right guard throughout his career.

"Our team is heartbroken over the loss of Colt Sinor," head football coach Ashley Ingram said. "He was an inspiration to us all. Colt is the toughest man I've ever met, and there's no question he lived his life to the fullest. We are now comforted to know that he is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My thoughts and prayers are with our team and with Colt's family. We love you, Colt."

In the waning days of his life, Sinor married his long-time girlfriend and former Carson-Newman Track & Field star Anslee Sinor (ne' McGlocklin).

Survivors include his parents, Tim & Tammy Sinor; wife, Anslee Sinor (McGlocklin); brother Matthew Anderson; niece Briley Anderson; grand-parents Juanita Bryant and Don Smith; Sister-in-Law Jennifer Couch; Uncles Barry Sinor of Cumming, GA and Steve Sinor; Cousin Matthew Sinor of Cumming, GA; and his dogs, Pepper & Bubba.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to either the Carson-Newman or Lenoir-Rhyne football programs in memory of Colt Sinor.

Funeral services will be at Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonnie Oaks Dr., Chattanooga, TN 37421. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m.

Colt will be buried at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com

My thoughts and prayers go out to Colt Sinor's family and friends. 🙏

Sadly, cancer has robbed so many very good people of their lives way to early, including people like Colt, which still had most of his life ahead of him.
