I know they are eager and ready. The whole community is pumped which has been awesome to see!

I walked by the field the other night while they were practicing. Early morning and late night practices trying to get acclimated to colder weather playing (which still isn't equal to what they'll experience in big rapids). But the weather has helped with a bit by being low to mid 30s this week.

In closely evaluating both teams there's no doubt that Ferris State has a talented team. Sizewise they match-up pretty even. However, overall Newberry's team has more upperclassmen, many of which have transfered from very successful D1 FCS teams such as Coastal Carolina University. So they come into this game pretty seasoned in going up against fast /strong players/ teams.
From experience, I can see them having a 'no fear' attitude while playing the younger Ferris State players.

This has the makings of being a much different game than what many fans may have predicted early on.

Ok I just don’t buy the hype for Newberry. There three plays from being 7-4. Hope I am wrong but seriously expect a semi blowout or very convincing win. On another note x LR football coach Jacobs just signed the hc contract with Toledo for around a million dollars a year. He’s a good coach but has been reaping the benefits of following Cronic the two previous contracts. Now we will find out what he can do with an average program to start with.

Well, whether you buy the hype or not. They are 12-1. They won the SAC. They won the region, beating West Florida and Albany State on the road. They have overcome (almost) every hurdle that has been put in their way so far. Doesn't matter if they win on the last play or not, they've placed themselves in the position to not only WIN those games, but to keep the other team from notching a W.

You don't have to buy the hype my LR friend, you just have to live with it this year :).

Also... again... another thread tried to turn into one about LR. Fun times!

Have to disagree with you on that. The first thing I noticed about Newberry was that they are small. They're quick, but from a size perspective this is an advantage that Ferris will have. If you go watch our highlights from Ashland or Mankato you can look at both teams OL and see that difference right away. I think the game will be close in the beginning, but Ferris will pull away in the 3rd.

Certainly not a big difference in size, plus you have to look at whether the players with size are predominantly upperclassmen (with more experience) or younger underclassmen. I believe the biggest advantage Ferris State may have in this game will be the extreme weather conditions (9 degrees at kickoff). 🥶

I'm sure there will not be any attendance records broken at this game. They last game there (28 degrees) only drew 1,582 in attendance.
