SOS is also not the only factor so yes, foolish indeed.

I'm aware there's not a massive conspiracy to screw teams over. When fans are complaining that they won convincingly and they didn't move up it makes it hard to take much seriously to be honest.

You would think they would consider hardings success in the playoffs in recent years.

Best case scenario for the GAC is for us to drop one to SAU. If we win out and SAU beats UAM does S/T jump Harding and SAU to grab the 7 and only leave 1 GAC team? Or does SAU only fall to 7 setting up a 2nd all GAC 1st round rematch? Or does Harding grab the last spot even though SAU has the head to head. Im getting dizzy. The committee will earn their pay this year. You can bet that a team will be left out and have a right to complain when all said and done.

Why? If that mattered, Harding would have been watching GV play last year.

Won't matter Hays will lose one more and OBU will lose 2 more anyway.
I don't see how anything other than the eye test or other potential conference biases would factor in considering Fort Hays, Harding and Pitt State would all finish with an SOS of .500 thanks to the silo scheduling schemes of the GAC and MIAA.

They don't project sos to the end of season. They go week by week. By week 11 sos will be moot. Then the human element can come into play. Traditionally, it has been all math until week 11. What you saw this week was just Math. Teams finishing above and below .500 can vary a little between the 2 conferences, as will home vs. road wins, but sos will be the same at season's end. At that point we will be apples to apples and no matter what 9 and 2 team gets left out, they will have a legitimate reason to complain.

Lots of football between now and then, so it may not even matter in the end. There could be 5 or 6, 9 and 2, teams fighting for spots by then.

In short, I'm not telling FreakoutFreddy that it won't happen. Just that it hasn't yet, so he can put away the victim card for a couple of weeks.

Best case scenario for GAC is to have Washburn beat Pitt State and Truman beat MUS&T (and have all other games go chalk). It's also probably not all that unlikely. GAC would then get 3 teams in by virtue of having three of the seven two(or fewer)-loss teams in the region.

                                Correct. Unlikely imo, but correct.
