OT: Yes, We Do Play Volleyball

Before this season, the GAC is 0-6 in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. To make matters worse, the score every time has been 3-0. We have also been the 8 seed every time except in 2011 when Arkansas Tech was the 7 seed in the South Central region which then included the GAC, Heartland, Lone Star, and Mid-America. Arkansas Tech has lost to Washburn, Minnesota-Duluth (twice), and the 2017 perfect season was ended by Southwest Minnesota State. Southwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene have both lost to Concordia-St. Paul.

Yesterday in Kearney, Harding changed all that. Not only did the #8 seed Lady Bisons win a set, they knocked out #1 seed Nebraska-Kearney 3-2. But now face the difficult task of #4 seed Concordia-St. Paul in the second round of the regional tournament. Concordia-St. Paul beat Southwest Minnesota State 3-2 in the first round. In the other games, #2 Minnesota-Duluth beat #7 Central Missouri 3-0 and #3 Washburn beat #6 Northern State 3-2.

Here's hoping that Harding can pull off another upset.

Henderson State came out of nowhere this season. Their only other GAC tourney appearance was a 3-0 loss in 2016. During the first 3 years of the GAC, only 9 teams were eligible for the tourney and HSU still did not qualify. That's what makes this season more amazing.

Well, they had a good year. Hopefully HSU continues recent efforts, and the GAC teams continues to gain ground in the future post season.

A lot of people at ATU still feel that way. Everyone up north (MIAA, NSIC) will say it was correct and point to the easy win by Southwest Minnesota State as evidence. But that was last year and nothing can be done about it now except to learn from it to get better in the future.

GAC is definitely behind overall in Volleyball. Tech and Harding are pretty good, but when they go play against top 10 teams, they struggle.
