Former Creston multi-sport star and Northwest Missouri State running back Chase Shiltz has been life-flighted following a late afternoon crash in Ringgold County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at approximately 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, Shiltz was westbound on Highway 2 at the 87 mile marker when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Ivan Stoltzfus, 59, of Leon.

The 20-year-old Shiltz was air lifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines with serious injuries. Stoltzfus was uninjured in the accident.

Good update today. Lots of stitches, but he will be alright fortunately:

"As a family we would like to thank our friends, family and community for the reaching out to check on Chase for all the prayers that we had been blessed to receive. As you all know Chase was in a severe car wreck yesterday and by the grace of God is here with us resting at home today. He has lots of lacerations and bruising and swelling but nothing that time can't take care of. We will need continued prayers for his healing.
