340 total yards and 0 points allowed are both season bests for the Griffon D - a lot to be proud of there. They were on the field most of the third quarter, but that had as much to do with the offense struggling as it did the defense - one first down and 15 total yards in the quarter for MWSU.
Emporia's defense is pretty solid, but the Griffs moved the ball effectively in the first half. One of the things I appreciate about the offense is how much they distribute the ball and get a lot of different people involved. Griffith and Smith were pretty much bottled up, but Scott and Thompson both had some nice runs. Ten players shared the 19 receptions.
Not scoring may be the most effective way to limit Vaval in the return game. :) Actually, the opening kickoff was probably one of the most effective I've seen against Missouri Western this year - a sky kick that the up men let bounce between them. By the time it was picked up there was nowhere to go.
