  • MoSo vs NWMSU

I saw that the Bearcats won by a TD. Granted I don't follow MIAA like I used to, but this kinda caught me off guard. I still pay attention to the league because it's good football and know that the Lions were better than they've been in a while last year. They could've easily gone 7-4 instead of 4-7.

Was kinda surprised there wasn't a thread already honestly.

Have they closed the gap even more? Looking for opinions of those that saw the game.

I saw that the Bearcats ran 80 plays to the Lions 40, which usually isn't something you'd see in a 1 score game. Was this one of those flukey games where the score was much closer than the competition?
    Cool Story Bro

Long drives vs quick scores helped with the 80/40 split.

I see it now from this login. I couldn't see it (or this response) from my bigsig account.

Maybe i blocked you from my bigsig account at some point, lol? Possibly when NW was violating Lindenwood in the playoff game back in 2019. That was rough and I was in my feels lol. My bad.

NW was trying to eat clock with a ball control offense until they got down. Even then, they stayed patient with it. Southern front 7 didn't look great, or maybe the NW oline did look great at times, but the back end of the D held up pretty well. Unfortunately, they weren't able to spy Hohensee and he kept a bunch of drives alive with his feet. (With his injury history, this is probably not what NW wants to see) THE Southern D did limit big plays and make them drive the field each time, but got worn down in the 2nd half. Hohensee was clutch, and really carried NW when it counted.

The NW front did well, as expected, against the run, but the back end of their D looked soft. Southern torched them on several deep balls, and the moso QB missed a few throws that might have won them this game.

I know it's game 1, but to me, the Southern D looked worse than the last 2 years. The difference this year
appears to be at QB. Sampson throws it pretty well, and opens up the offense to do a lot more than run Glades up the middle every play. The Southern OC may have still been a little too stubborn in sticking with that run, though.

91 yard 10 minute drive in the 4th quarter was huge.

MoSo had 307 yards passing- 195 of that came on 4 plays. NW secondary had broken coverage and paid for it.
