I've been keeping up with WT recruit Zach Toussaint. The Jonsburg, Ill HS senior is zeroing in on 2,200 career points and should finish his career in the top 75 all-time Illinois scorers. Considering he had only 56 points as a freshmen most of those 2,200 came in three years. He's also on track to make over 300 treys. He's had games of 52, 51, and 43 points. This year he's averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Often facing gimmick defenses, doubling and triple-teaming him, Toussaint has led his team to the regional finals. Reading all the news reports and comments from opposing coaches, the slender 6'0" Zach is renowned for his NBA range as well as his ability to find seams and finish at the basket.
It's going to be a blast watching Toussaint slide into a WT guard scheme that includes LSC freshman of the year and first team all-LSC Qua Grant, and freshman 2nd team LSCer Jo Jo Murray. Toussaint should be very complimentary to the Buffs offense. Like Coach Brown says, "If you don't shoot it, we don't recruit it." Ha! Toussaint will have to get physically stronger (a good strength program which WT has) and pick up/improve his defense, but damn....he can flat out score. It'll be real interesting to see who Tom Brown and staff bring in to replace Ryan Quaid inside. If they can effectively replace Quaid, WT men's basketball will be a top 10 (or better) team again next year.
I watched 7 complete Toussaint games. His head coach and uncle, Mike Toussaint, puts the games on his twitter page.
