    The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs sit fifth in this week's NCAA Division II Women's Basketball South Central Regional Rankings announced on Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA's headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Texas A&M-Commerce sits atop of the rankings followed by Lubbock Christian, Texas Woman's, Colorado Mesa, West Texas A&M, Colorado School of Mines, Westminster, Colorado State-Pueblo, MSU Denver, and Angelo State.

    The top eight teams in the South Central Region will take part in the Regional Tournament taking place on March 11-14 at the top overall seed, the winners of the two conference tournaments (LSC, RMAC) will receive an automatic bid into the postseason with the last six spots being filled by at-large selections.

    The official announcement of the 64-team NCAA Division II Championship field will be made following the Lone Star Conference Tournament (Comerica Center - Frisco, Texas) with Regional Tournament action taking place on March 11-14 with the top seed hosting. The 2022 NCAA Division II Elite Eight will take place in Birmingham, Alabama on March 21-24 at the Birmingham Crossplex.

    The Lady Buffs are the top seed in this weekend's Lone Star Conference Championship at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas as they take on ninth-seeded Texas A&M International in the quarterfinal round on Friday at 6 p.m.

    Looks like if WT can win the conference tournament and a team other than Mesa and Mines wins the RMAC tourney then WT might host the regional. That head to head lost to Mesa is going to sting if Mesa wins it.
