I can imagine a nationwide search would bring some great applications. Previous WT coaches have all moved up to D1 gigs......Gerlich at Texas Tech, Kellogg at W Virginia (ranked #12 I think), and Mattio at N Colo.

Women's BB attendance used to dwarf the men. Not anymore. Fans came for the women's game and only the diehards stayed for the men. Now people show up at half-time for the women and hang around as even more show up for the men.
Totally random question and I dont have the time like I did in the past to do the passionate research (damn teenagers).

Is the transfer portal having an effect on WT's current downslide in womens basketball and are the other teams catching up using the portal?

No and No. Look at LSC squads. Very few D1 players have transferred in and made impacts. Look at LCU. HS recruits. Pretty much the same in the LSC. 2 years ago, WT's Prock recruited transfers from UTEP, UTArlington, Central Arkansas, and Pepperdine. Only the UTEPer has had much playing time. She started at PG last year and was a turnover machine. Prock went out this year and got a real good juco pg. The other 3 D1's are a busts. Better to focus on good HS kids (locally) if the talent is there. They are much much much more likely to develop, play, and stay. D2 girls are not like the men (at any level).

The guys are much more likely to bolt for PT or the stupid old siren song of low-level D1 just to say they play D1 (even for a crap school). Take Kieran Elliott. LSC freshman of the year last year. His dad lied to our coaches.......said "Kieran's gonna be a Buff for 4 years." But, all dad ever wanted was for his kid to be a "DEEEE1." Kieran could've been a D2 AA and made play on a NC. Instead he's at Cal Poly. Started 2 of 11 games. Ave 15 minutes a game, 5 pts and 4 rebounds.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this- but back to back national champions in meat judging deserves some mention!

Not sure why they even bother with football after this accomplishment. No wonder the women’s basketball and volleyball teams are good…

When we buy beef, it's at the retail outlet at the WT ag school. Great stuff!

As a Minnesota FFA state farmer award winner and having gone to state in soil judging and farm management contests (but never did meat judging, my brother did) I applaud agricultural contests!

On another topic, who do you like in the D2 championship game tomorrow? I'm thinking the Wheels will roll right over Valdosta.

I think Ferris will win. Valdosta had NO turnovers last Saturday. I don't think that they can repeat that.

My deceased Uncle John, was Kansas state FFA Farmer of the Year in 1945. His dad, my grandfather was a dairyman in Lenexa, KS. (I never saw my mother drink a glass of milk). Ha! HAD to drink it growing up.
