Thanks for posting. Barney sounds really good, averaging over 7 yards per carry! Interesting that he was second team all district but also second team all state!

Hopefully one of these QBs will be better than Gibson.

I've watched the videos on all. Barney looks like a very good back. I like the Copperas Cove QB. OL Tristan Vo'a from Mansfield Timberview is a Big Boy Beast, impressive highlights.

My concern is the shift in recruiting to the portal. Someone told me PB announced 17 transfers. If they are game ready older players with talent, and the coaching staff has attuned itself to reloading this way every year, it's hard for the old model of building a team from HS kids who hang around, to be competitive right away.

Trying not to be a debbie downer but there isnt a lot of signings from the big city impact schools.

West Texas kids are great to root on to the 3rd round of the playoffs but need more than that to be competitive in the LSC.

I would love to be proven wrong in the next couple of years and these kids are making an impact.

Yep, WT has truly been reduced to a Panhandle (806) area code school. Congratulations WT administrators.

34 kids signed. 6 are area kids. 28 from downstate mostly metro areas. I'm not sure you guys even looked at the announcement.

Looked at the link in detail.

If you want to get technical, a quarter of this list is from the "area' if you count Roswell, Lubbock, and Amarillo.

What is your definition of metro?

I dont see a lot of impactful 6A type talent on this list.

I am not looking for D1 Duncanville, North Crowley, North Shore Type talent, etc. but it seems in the past I would see the inner Dallas and Houston areas recruited more than years past.

Metro to me includes smaller type schools where a lot of kids are going (transferring) that didnt crack the 6A metroplex lineups.

Like I said I am hopeful there are a lot of diamonds here but looking at Kingsville's list they have hit the San Antonio and Houston area big time.

How can anyone look at the signing list and make the statement only 6 area signees? Not sure you have looked at a map.

I count 12 area signees or 35%. There are more than 6 from the 806 area code alone.

I think everyone reasonably defines WT’s area as West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.

Roswell is 197 miles from Canyon. About the same for Seminole. Not really area kids in my book. Ha!

Lynn's brother Jeff is the HC at Roswell, hence the pipeline there. The 6'2 275 DL is Lynn's nephew. He looks good on video. Can stop the run and push the line.

A shrinking of WTs area is the point of concern. Excluding all West Texas and Eastern New Mexico confirms the reduction in WT’s influence.

You also excluded some Lubbock area to only count 6. You must think WT’s area is walking distance to campus.

The UIL has defined the Area for Amarillo area high schools to extend from the panhandle down to midland/odessa and San Angelo/ Abilene. If Seminole isn’t WTs area then is WT Area, smaller than Amarillo High Sandies?

Jeff Lynn is also one of my favorite all time rockers.

Point is most kids west of I-35 arent going to be the top gets even for D2 unless you score kids that are missed from top tier lower classification schools. Hopefully the Gunter and Celina lineman signed fit that qualification.

This is going to sound harsh but when you are signing a QB from Canyon High school that only had a 5-5 record and only 10 TD passes in 9 games played last year, someone tell me what I am missing here unless WT is going to adopt the poor mans Harding's or even ENMU's offense?
