I'm really surprised at how much UIU has dropped off from just a few years ago. Agree, they need to carefully analyze the football situation and make some changes/corrections. Not easily done of course by any means, but I'm sure the current situation is frustrating to followers of the program and school.

From what I'm hearing is Shea and Wyatt need to go. This is all hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt. Wyatt plays favorites. If he likes you, you can do no wrong. If he does not take an instant shine to you, you might as well be invisible. Coaches on offense are respected for the most part. Big separation in team unity fostered in large part due to the favorites issue. Supposedly, one six figure donor is calling for Shea's removal as well. Guess we will see but for now it is not a good situation. On the bright side, Reader looks like a keeper at QB.

How is the budget for UIU football? There have been many stories on here of coaches leaving for better pay, sometimes within the conference. Lack of coaches altogether. Has UIU been nickel and diming things long enough that it is starting to wear thin with recruits?

No doubt it's been a tough season. We knew going in our QB position was a question mark. Graduated 3 year starter and first team all conference QB in Lammers. Augie game really was the only game that got out of hand. Winona got up 21-0 early, but then it was a pretty even game outside of a late 70 yard run for last TD. We've lost by 5, 7, 2, and 6 points in the other games. In all those games we were in a position to win, but couldn't quite get it done. Injuries on both sides have really, really impacted things as well. Mitchell Siech one of the best LB's in the conference was lost early, along with several other LB's, d-lineman, and DB's. One of our best offensive lineman broke his ankle against Northern and lost for year, etc.... True freshman playing at a lot of positions and getting a lot of time. Not a good recipe for this year and meat of schedule is ahead of us and I'm guessing it will be very, very tough. You look at the stats from the SMSU game and we dominated but as usual with SMSU they found a way to win, we had 4th and goal against CSP to win and couldn't punch it in, we had Northern on the ropes at homecoming and lost by 2, and the Mary game a punt return and another turnover in our end killed us. We are starting our scout team QB - who has actually looked pretty darn good! I'm very happy for the team that they got the win against Crookston. Realistically Wayne is our best chance for a second win this year. We are just a few plays away from having 5 wins - so all isn't lost. This will be one of our worst seasons in a long time. Yes, we expect better and have been better, but not time to jump ship on the team. There are challenges in coaching and recruiting at UIU, we've done very well since moving to D2 in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. Will changes happen in off-season - up to our AD to decide, but let's look at the situation this year with all the injuries and uncertainty going in at QB - we've been competitive. Once season is done things will need to be looked at - until then will hope we can put some good showings on the field and find another win in there somewhere!

Reader is a good case in point. He was the scout team qb. Finally gets a chance to step on the field and plays better than anyone else. If not for injuries, he would not play at all. Talent evaluation is sketchy at best. When some guys are leading in the weight room as well as the class room and cannot sniff the field , something is wrong.

Great win yesterday. D-Line dominated the game. Happy for the young men.
