  • NSIC Players of the Week: Week #3 (9/18)

    NSIC Offensive Player of the Week
    #4 Nick Bohn (QB, 6-1, 215, Jr., Bennington, Neb. / Bennington HS) - Wayne State

    - Accounted for 386 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-10 win over SMSU
    - Completed 14 of 26 passes for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns
    - Completed touchdown passes of 53, 74 and 59 yards in the first half
    - Added two touchdown runs of 11 and 10 yards

    NSIC Defensive Player of the Week
    #47 Josiah Behm (LB, 6-2, 225, Jr., Appleton, Wis. / Fox Valley Lutheran HS) - MSU Moorhead

    - Recorded 10 tackles with five solo takedowns in MSUM’s 38-17 win over McKendree
    - Had a team and game-high three tackles for loss, totaling 25 yards
    - Added in a pair of sacks, which tied the conference-best for the week
    - Forced a fumble on one of those sacks which flipped possession for the Dragons
    - Also added in a pass breakup as well as a quarterback hurry in the win

    NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week
    #45 Drew Smook (K/P, 6-0, 195, So., North Mankato, Minn. / Mankato West HS) - Northern State

    - Scored and NSIC high for kickers with 11 points in a 41-10 victory over the University of Mary
    - Went 2-for-2 in field goal attempts with a 43-yard season and career long
    - Added a 38 yard field goal in the first quarter
    - Connected on all five extra points
    - Tallied 452 yards on kickoffs, averaging 56.5 yards per kick with one touchback

    OFFENSE

    Casey Bauman (AUGIE)
    - Passed for 246 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings' 24-16 win at CSP
    - Had a long pass of 34 yard
    - Ranks 24th in NCAA DII for yards per pass, nearing 10 yards per completion

    Brandon Alt (BSU)
    - Threw for a season-high 338 yards and four touchdowns in a 36-10 win over WSU
    - Added a 50-yard rush that helped setup a touchdown
    - Completed 22-36 and found three different receivers for touchdowns
    - Completed a pass to nine receivers
    - Has thrown for over 9,000 career passing yards

    Kyle Walljasper (UMD)
    - Rushed for four touchdowns in a 42-34 win over USF
    - Led the NSIC in total offense (406 yards), rushing yards (136) and points scored (24)
    - Passed for a career-high 270 yards
    - The four rushing touchdowns tied a career mark set last Oct. 8, 2022 against the UMary
    - The 406 yards of total offensive marks a high among all NSIC players so far this season
    - Ranks second in the NCAA with eight rushing TDs
    - Ranks sixth in rushing yards in the country with 396
    - Completed a season-best 73.9 of his passes against the Cougars, going 17-of-23

    Shen Butler-Lawson (MSU)
    - Led the Maverick rushing attack with 95 yards and two touchdown carries
    - Averaged 6.3 yards per carry
    - Caught two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown
    - Scored three touchdowns for a total of 18 points

    Carter Birrenkott (MSUM)
    - Led the Dragons with a career-high 179 yards in MSUM's 38-17 win over McKendree
    - The yardage total was also tops in the NSIC for the week
    - Tied career-highs in receptions with a game-high 10 and receiving touchdowns with two



    DEFENSE

    Peyton Buckley (AUGIE)
    - Recorded a game-high 11 tackles with two tackles for loss in the Vikings win over CSP
    - The two tackles for loss went for 16 yards
    - Forced a fumble that the Vikings recovered
    - Recorded two pass breakups and was credited with a quarterback hurry

    Marcus Hansen (BSU)
    - Continued to dominate up front as he collected four tackles for loss and a sack
    - Finished with seven tackles, with five solo
    - Was part of a defense that recorded six sacks

    Dexter Larsen (WSC)
    - Notched eight tackles with one sack, one forced fumble and one interception vs. SMSU
    - Anchored WSC defense that held SMSU to 290 yards and three offensive points
    - Two turnovers forced resulted in 14 Wayne State points



    SPECIAL TEAMS

    Peyton Eue (CSP)
    - Went 3-for-3 on field goals in a 24-16 loss to Augustana
    - Connected from 20, 41 and 21 yards
    - Scored 10 point in the contest

    Matthew Jaeger (MSU)
    - Connected on a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter in a 52-25 win at Minot State
    - Went 5-for-5 in extra point attempts as he totaled eight points
