  • NSIC Players of the Week: Week #6 (10/9)

    NSIC Offensive Player of the Week
    #4 Nick Bohn (QB, 6-1, 215, Jr., Bennington, Neb. / Bennington HS) - Wayne State

    - Accounted for 200 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in a 28-18 win over No. 17 Minnesota Duluth
    - Ran for season-high 55 yards and two scores on runs of 1 and 3 yards
    - Completed 14 of 24 passes for 145 yards and another score
    - Named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season (9/18/23 & 9/25/23)

    NSIC Defensive Player of the Week
    #35 Trey King (LB, 6-0, 210, R-Jr., Irene, S.D. / Irene-Wakonda HS) - Northern State

    - Recorded seven tackles in a 46-9 win over Minot State
    - Notched 5.0 tackles for a loss totaling 15 yards
    - Added two forced fumbles in the win
    - Jumped into the team lead for tackles this season and leads NSU with 8.0 TFLs

    NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week
    #40 Matthew Jaeger (K, 6-1, 215, Jr., Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) - Minnesota State

    - Connected on a 34-yard field goal with four seconds left to give MSU a 24-21 win over MSUM
    - Kicked off five times for 216 yards
    - Helped the No. 4 ranked Mavericks remained undefeated as they move to 6-0

    OFFENSE

    Jack Fisher (AUGIE)
    - Tallied three receptions for 164 yards
    - Scored a 67-yard touchdown with a long reception of 77 yards
    - Averaged 54.6 yards per reception
    - Helped Augustana to its first 6-0 start since 2010

    Jaylin Richardson CSP)
    - Posted the top rushing mark in the NSIC in week six with 162 yards on 23 carries
    - Averaged 7.0 yards per carry and found the end zone three times in a 35-28 loss to Sioux Falls
    - Has a pair of 3-touchdown games in 2023
    - Recorded his third 100-yard rushing game of the 2023 season, fourth of his career
    - Ranks third in the NSIC and 14th in the country with 584 rushing yards
    - Ranks second in the Northern Sun with 114.3 all-purpose yards per game

    Tony Anger (MSU)
    - Scored all three of Minnesota State's touchdowns in the Mavericks' 24-21 win over MSU Moorhead
    - Recorded a pair of one-yard touchdown runs
    - Caught an 11-yard touchdown pass
    - Added a two-point conversion catch
    - Led the NSIC in scoring last week with 20 points

    Jack Strand (MSUM)
    - Completed 37 passes for a league-high 384 yards and three touchdowns in MSUM's 24-21 loss at MSU
    - Passed for over 300 yards for the fourth consecutive game, completing 56 percent of his passes

    Brett Brenton (NSU)
    - Scored 18 points for the Wolves in their win over Minot State
    - Tallied 84 yards rushing
    - Averaged 6.5 yards per carry with a 30-yard long
    - Recorded 1-yard, 30-yard, and 7-yard rushing touchdowns

    Carter Slykhuis (USF)
    - Recorded a career high 134-yard reception yards in a 35-28 win over CSP
    - Had 109-yards in just the first half
    - Led the team with 11 receptions and one score

    Cole Stenstrom (WSU)
    - Threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns in a win at UMary
    - Was 21-of-39 overall with a 55-yard completion
    - Also netted 11 yards rushing

    DEFENSE

    Dakota Smith (MSU)
    - Recovered a fumble on the MSU 17 yard line ending a red zone opportunity for the Dragons
    - Posted two tackles included 0.5 for a loss and 0.5 sacks
    - Blocked a 35-yard field goal attempt by MSU Moorhead in the fourth quarter while teams were tied

    Josiah Behm (MSUM)
    - Made a league-high 14 tackles in MSUM's 24-21 loss to Minnesota State, including six solo stops
    - Collected three tackles for loss in the contest, totaling 11 lost yards
    - All three were solo tackles for loss

    Dexter Larsen (WSC)
    - Posted team-high 10 tackles in 28-18 win over #17 Minnesota Duluth
    - Had four solo and six assisted tackles

    Kyjuan Vengrowsky (WSU)
    - Helped limit UMary to just 71 yards rushing and 122 passing in a 17-7 Warrior win
    -Had three tackles for loss against the Marauders
    - Earned 9 TFL yards for his team
    - Racked up four total tackles, all solo efforts

    SPECIAL TEAMS

    Avery Book (AUGIE)
    - Punted four times with an average of 52.2 yards per punt
    - Had a long of 69 yards
    - Totaled two punts of 50+ yards
    - Leads the NSIC in punt yards per game

    Kevin Powell (UMary)
    - Averaged 48 yards on 7 attempts, including 3 traveling 50+ yards with a career long of 70
    - Downed 5 punts inside the 20, forced 2 fair catches and the lone return went for -7 yards
    - Two kickoffs were returned for an average of 13.5 yards
    - Made his lone extra point of the day

    Tristan Root (WSU)
    - Punted six times for 270 yards
    - Had a longest kick of 50 yards
    - Averaged 45 yards per effort
    - Dropped one punt inside the Marauder 20
