Mavs had a lead with nine outs to go against SCSU. Then they hit the iceberg and sank. Didn't have any lifeboats for the Winona game- Warriors outplayed them and were much more fired up. Mavs seemed listless in the nightcap.
Minot plays Winona at noon at St. Johns- while SCSU plays Augie in the winners bracket.
Vikings take down Huskies in methodical fashion 10-5, placing the Viks in the championship game or two. For being the NSIC tournament you'd think it's the SCSU invitational by the open Huskie cheering by the announcer.
Darn it, the NSIC site is doing the same thing for baseball. One of their pages says that SCSU is leading 11-4 in the 9th, their other page says Minot is ahead. Come on people, you did this for softball too!
Congrats to the Beavers of Minot St. for advancing to the championship game or games of the NSIC tournament. Great performances by pitcher Jaymon Cervantes and slugger Darrel Doll this week.
Augie wins for the second year in a row. They get the autobid. I think that the NSIC will get three spots. I haven't heard who won the MIAA yet. Who will host the regional?
I wonder why they don't have the ten run rule for the playoffs. So many runs scored in some of these games- pitching staffs really get taxed.
Tough start for the Mavs. Ark. Monticello pitcher throwing an excellent game.
I was at the game. Boll Weevils just rocked the Mavs. Very aggressive at the plate. I left the second game with OK Baptist up 6-3- Augie scored two on a passed ball/wild pitch on the same play. Got home to find out Augie won 12-10.
I did walk over to the bookstore before the game to buy an Augie hat pin. They were sold out.
Central Missouri defeats Central Oklahoma (8-5) in the sub-regional in Warrensburg, Missouri and advances to play Augustana in the Super Regional in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Winner of the three game series moves on to the final eight in North Carolina. Augustana is the defending national champion and Central Missouri is a two time national champion....fasten your seatbelts.
