I watched a lot of the Bloomsburg game last night. Wilmington looked nothing like a previously 1-8 team. They really beat up a Bloomsburg team that came in on a win streak and in its last outing hammered Pitt-Johnstown.
There aren't many schools in the country who have played a tougher schedule so far than Wilmington.
@ Bentley
@ Saint Anselm (nationally ranked)
@ Millersville
Shippensburg (should be ranked)
@ Daemen (nationally ranked)
@ West Chester (nationally ranked)
@ Jefferson (receiving votes)
Holy Family
Kutztown
Bloomsburg
They've now won two straight after an 0-8 start.
Also consider: They lost at Shippensburg, 77-69, lost at Daemen, 83-81 and lost at Jefferson in OT, 81-75.
This is a team that could go on quite a tear now that its incredibly difficult non-conference slate is over.
In a slightly surprising result, Salem went into Glenville and beat them 103-92 on Thursday night. None of the other recent MEC Christmas Break OOC games have been surprising (except for maybe FSU taking down Ship)
Quality performances by the ESU men. Michal Weiss and Carlos Pepin have been great in the front court, and Guards Walls, Rodriguez, and Morgan have been terrific. They also have plenty of young talent that pitch in.
