After being so close past 3 years and losing to eventual NC's UCM in 2014 and Augie in 2016, think a lot of people felt this year was our year to get there. Special group of kids for sure and some very good talent coming back next year.

Great game by the Bearcats. Congrats on winning both football and men's basketball in the same season. Quite an accomplishment.

Congrats Bearcats...best team in the country this year.

Take it from someone who made the trip when we won in '13 - if you are lucky enough to have access to tickets, make the trip when you guys play Duke at Cameron Indoor next fall. Looking forward to seeing Pitts give the Dukies some heartburn.

And, btw, 3 of the last 5 D2 National Champions from Missouri, and from 3 different programs.

Lots of good D2 basketball in the Show-Me State.

D2 football has for the most part been dominated by Midwest programs starting with NDSU and continuing with NW. D2 basketball in the Midwest has fared really good last 3 years with UCM, Augie and now NW as NC's. Baseball has done well too, specifically UCM.

Big Congrats to NWMSU. Scary to think you could do it again next season!
                    Some questions about your experience.

                    1. Overall thoughts on the pentagon/heritage court? If anybody thinks facility is USF or Augie's home court, it is not.
                    2. For those who might have had time to explore SF, did you visit the Falls, restuarants or shopping opportunities. What did you think of our city?
                    3. As a NSIC fan I'm proud that the Bearcats had tougher games in the regional with SMSU and UIU.

                      1) The Pentagon is fantastic. Love all the historical stuff.

                      2) Although we stayed Friday night, we didn't venture into the city too much...just stayed at the Fairfield that is next door to the Pentagon. We did, however, take in breakfast with Matt Witwicki at The Original Pancake House....it was very, very good.

                      3) For some crazy reason, even with the 12 point lead with under two minutes, I still felt that the door was open for Fairmont to make a final frantic run, even with the defense NW was playing.

40 minutes of hell as famed by Nolan Richardson is tremendous against undisciplined teams. Bob Huggins has a similar approach and the coach at Fairmont was an assistant to Huggins. Hats off to Ben and his kids for not getting caught up in that style of play. Fairmont was very athletic, but our approach and discipline was the difference.

Congrats Bearcats! Special appreciation for @themosbyfactor -- what a team player -- coming off the bench and unselfishly doing exactly the things his team needed him to do to win!

[don't want my mistake to take away from the main point]

With 3 of the last 5 national championship, can we all agree that Missouri is the hotbed of Division II basketball?
Fixed it for you. With Drury, Winona St., UCM, Augie and NW, the Midwest is flexing it's D2 basketball muscle.
