Augie releases the entire 2022-23 schedule as they defend the NSIC title.

    https://goaugie.com/sports/mens-bask...hedule/2022-23

    The initial highlights:
    • Another matchup with Washburn in Kansas City
    • East/West Classic returns to the "Gon with Moorhead replacing Northern. Oddly both games are at 11am, even the game on Friday vs SD Mines
    • Toughest NSIC stretch is a four game roadie to SCSU/UMD and then Winona/UIU
    • Regular season ends with four straight in Sioux Falls, including a chance to ruin Cartwright's senior night for the second straight season.

Came across this tweet from Tony Roe, the main Iowa scout for the Prep Hoops Network, regarding Augie's recent commitments and thought it was very positive/encouraging:

Also liked this response tweet from their AAU program:

Weird to think that when I started reading/following this message board, Twitter didn't even exist. I'm getting too old.

Also, with the commitment of Kirkman, Augie's 2023-24 roster will include the following names if nobody hits the transfer portal:
    • Jadan
    • Caden
    • Ayden
    • Hayden
    • Caden
    • Brady
    • Brayson

Might as well keep the train rollin' along. Augie gets a commitment from 6'8" big man Caden Kirkman, also from Iowa.

Kirkman is AAU teammates with Laube and Bear, which is awesome. Ranked #7 in Iowa according to Prep Hoops, for those who care about rankings.

A few tweets about Caden for Augie fans who are interested:

Congrats, and welcome to the Augie family, Caden!

Huge, huge commit for Augie today. 6'8" wing Dallas Bear commits to the Vikes.

Dallas is a tall, lanky scorer who was getting a significant amount of mid-major interest from what I've seen online and had a couple of low D1 offers as well.

    Some tweets:

Fun to get AAU teammates Brayson Laube and Dallas Bear together. Really pumped about this 2023 recruiting class.

Augustana gets a commitment from Iowa SG Brayson Laube.

Prep Hoops Iowa has him as the #6 ranked player in the 2023 class. Believe he had offers from Truman State and possibly Upper Iowa. Not sure who else was recruiting him.

    Some other tweets/updates about Laube:

And some highlights from about a year ago:

Excited to have Brayson committed to the Vikings. Should be fun to see what he and Arhman Lewis can do together in the backcourt. Throw in Ayden McDonald and Sam Rensch and the Vikes have the potential to have some really salty guard play over the next few years.

Maybe you haven't heard this either. There is another small faith-based school in Sioux Falls, also in the NSIC.

Congrats to the men's basketball team on having 8 student athletes named to the NABC Honors Court while earning as an entire team the 2021-22 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.

    https://goaugie.com/news/2022/7/19/m...nce-award.aspx

    Adam Dykman, Sports Administration/Leadership
    Bennett Otto, Education
    Dylan LeBrun, Business Administration
    Eric Tiedman, Business Administration
    Isaac Fink, Education
    Tayton Vincent, Education
    Tyler Riemersma, Mathematics/Computer Science
    Zach Scholten, Business Administration

"Academic success is a core value of the NABC and a priority shared by men's basketball programs across the country," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Excellence in the classroom requires hard work and dedication, and the NABC considers it a privilege to honor these deserving student-athletes and the coaches and staff who support them."

Over 2,000 student-athletes earned a spot on the Honors Court while just 300 programs received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for 2021-22.

The difference from the Summitt to the NSiC is really not that big when comparing the top NSIC teams in each sport with the Summit as a whole.
IMO, this might be a little preposterous to say admittedly - but I don't think SDSU would have won every game this year had they played in the NSIC, all else being equal. Augie being the main reason, but there's a couple others too.

Definitely not a guarantee, but I think some teams would present a little more of a challenge. Not to mention hypothetically having to deal with crowds playing Augie and Northern.

I remember your post. Thought it was preposterous at the time, did not think football or men's basketball teams would do so well.

Always nice to see a couple of days after a kid commits:

AAU obviously isn't the same as D2 Central Region basketball, but I'm not going to complain if a kid can put up points like that in a game, regardless of the circumstances.
