Is Yellowstone Christian a relatively new school? I had not heard of them before.

School began in 1974. Their athletic department consists only of men's and women's basketball. Men started play in 2015 and women in 2016.

When Minot played them, they brought 6 players.

I see. A challenge I'm sure to develop a competitive program. Are they in D3 or NAIA?

They are a NCCAA Division I school. The NCCAA includes schools in our region like Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji and Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND, both of which play at their Division II level.

I'm pretty sure Presentation started on that as well as a few other of the current UMAC schools.

If Mav fans remember Crossroads, who we must have played about a decade or so ago in the Taylor Center- they were an NCCAA school. I and many Mav fans were actually cheering when they would score. I think that the final was 124 to 25 because they scored at the buzzer to keep it under a hundred. If you would have taken the last five guys on the Mav roster and put them on that team it would have been much closer.

I didn't know that they had shut down their school.

It takes time, Presentation didn't start until maybe close to 20 years ago. They are still trying to find themselves as an athletic department but the longer the coaches have been there, the better off they have been. There was a high turnover for quite some time.

Somewhat similar to the challenges of starting an athletic program at small religious-based high schools. I read in the regional daily paper here that New Century Academy girl's team lost 105 to 11 to Sleepy Eye public. The night before scored all of 2 points in a game vs. St. Mary's.

I'll have to get on the Sleepy Eye coach for running up the score......... :)
