In general, if you're a higher education institution you probably should be figuring out ways to entice kids to come to your school vs the other 40 schools competing with you for their dollars. That seems pretty basic to me.
Private schools like Drury get the business model of management. State-assisted schools are stuck with the bureaucratic model of management even though state assistance is dwindling and public institutions are having to rely more and more on "private" funding.

What if I told you, track wasn't always just for the ladies? That the price of football has a higher cost to others. That Title IX was actualy German. That Title Nein meant no more non revenue mens sports. That some times all good things come to an end. That two friends, who hadnt thought of each other for more than 30 years, realized that they had never lost contact at all.

You are quite the philosopher good sir. Winona still has two men's non-revenue men's sports (three if you count baseball), golf and cross country.

Cross country went out with track but was revived a number of years ago (why not I guess, there's hardly anybody on the team and a couple car washes and lemonade stands would cover the budget). How you can make this work without track is beyond me. Why would any good runner go somewhere where they can't run track?

I was told that the cut was to be track or golf and the athletic director was the golf coach and liked the free rounds; so that was that.
